Sammy Tierney was from Moss Side and lived there until his twenties. He also lived in Beswick, Fallowfield and Hulme. He was a writer of poetry and short stories, sometimes illustrating the pieces he submitted to Write On, Commonword’s now-defunct quarterly magazine of new writing. One example of his artwork was the cover of Write On 15.
