Little Britain

So here we are in the piss and grime
of the nineteen nineties.
The I own you mentality
that swaggers down our high streets
and stalks our neighbourhoods
with its watch schemes and car alarms

Where perfect squares of grass are minded
by fuck-off conifers
Where a daisy equals disorder.
There’s nothing flowering here.
They only let lines in.
Straight white ones, of course. Their own kind.
