Sol Garson (1923-1994)

Sol Garson was a writer and artist who took part in many early Commonword projects. He was born in 1932, and convinced that the shock of his birth killed Lenin, he has tried to make amends since. The only test he passed was that of being alive (by crying) and expects to disprove that eventually with a little help from his friends. He’s married with two children.

He was a glass worker, then became a joiner and then an artist. He illustrates, paints and sculpts and had an Exhibition at Manchester Town Hall in April 1977 which displayed some paintings and scultptures. He writes from life, stories and poems which have familiar places around Manchester and recognisable characters. One of his sculptures is currently on display in Manchester Central Library.
