Pat Amick grew up in Lancashire, leaving school at fifteen left school with no qualifications and leaving home at sixteen. After nearly twenty years she returned after studying completing a degree and teaching certificate. She started writing poetry in 1983. ‘Words’, a poem that came out of the first poetry workshop she attended, appeared in the National Poetry Foundation magazine. Since then she had ha other work published and have won prizes in various poetry competitions.
