Frank Koziol was born in the son of a farmer in Rostow Nadanov in southern Russia, moving to England as an adult. After losing a job with the London Brick Corporation in Bedford, he came to Manchester, living on Chorlton-on-Medlock before eventually settling in Partington, Greater Manchester.  He took part in the Lifetimes project, in which he got to document some of his life story, along with his wife Dolly. He is one of the parents of writer John Koziol, an early Commonword writer.
