Almira Holmes has been writing for a number of years. She writes poetry and short fiction and has been published widely. Her first published poem appeared in Mslexia in 2000. Almira holds degrees in English and creative writing and works with a number of writing groups. In 2000 she began running Womanswrite, the women-only writing group originally set up at Commonword in the Eighties.
