Witty and brutal observations of rogue therapists and unhealthy relationships interspersed with love poems and spiritual contemplation. These thirteen poets share the ability to articulate emotions in language you can taste long after you’ve finished reading.

Kitchen Dream
Sonia Hughes

I was in the kitchen washing the dishes. It was evening
and I was singing. My heels sensed him enter the room.
I waited for his reflection to appear in the window.

He took a long time to cross that short space. I could
see him now in the glass. If he’d just stretch out his arm
he could touch me.

I remained singing, washing the dishes, glancing at his
reflection.

When he gets here I will let him hold me, whilst I rinse
one last glass. Then I will turn and face him and kiss him
with suds on my hands.
