Ian Everton’s involvement in the gay liberation movement went back to 1971, when he started Sheffield Campaign for Homosexual Equality. His disillusion with the movement following the collapse of Leeds Gay Liberation Front resulted in his novel Alienation which was published by Gay Men’s Press.  Some of his writing in the Eighties reflected disillusion caused by disregard many gay men showed towards one another.
