Trudy Blake was born in Kingston, Jamaica and came to England in the Sixties. She worked as a singer, packer in Salford factories and as a sewing machinist. She performed her poetry all over the north west of England, had her work read out on BBC Radio Five, acted in community plays and appeared as a television extra. Her collection, Poems, was published in 1991.
