Linford Sweeney was born in Jamaica and moved to Manchester as a child. He is writer of poetry, fiction and non-fiction. He is one of the first black writers to be published by Commonword. He is a genealogist and historian who specialises in African and Black history. He also appears in the archive as Lynford Sweeney.
